Solar Controller
Model 510

New Product!

ECC now provides a solar controller that can be used for a wide variety of solar applications. Check out the Press Release (Adobe PDF) for all the exciting details.

The Model 510 is specifically designed to provide intelligent battery charging as well as control of a DC output such as a motor or DC lighting. An optional display provides a visual readout of battery voltage, photovoltaic voltage, load current and charging current. Without the display, four tri-color LEDs indicate the state of the battery, PV and curents.

The user can customize the unit to several different operating modes such as motor control based on battery state or night operation.

The unit can be factory configured for any of four different battery and photovoltaic arrangements e.g. nominally 12, 24, 36 and 48 Volt systems.

Solar systems with a battery operating a DC load are used in many situations where there is no easy access to electricity, or where it is desirable to work without being connected to the grid.

PV / Battery systems are very reliable and they produce power in all types of weather. On partly cloudy days, they can produce up to 80% of their potential energy. Even on extremely overcast days, they may still produce about 25% of maximum output.

SC510 Controller Without Enclosure

The Model 510 Controller is also available as a printed circuit board assembly. The assembly consists of the printed circuit board attached to an aluminum mounting plate which also serves as a heatsink. The option us used when a user wants to put the controller in another package. For example, a user may want to package the controller and battery in one box. The 510 controller without an enclosure can be ordered from ECC as part number SC510SE for the standard 12 Volt model or SC510SE-24 for the 24 Volt model. This controller is an ideal solution for OEMs that are packaging self contained solar systems.
